Namibia: The Kuiseb Canyon
The arid environs of Africa have fascinated me for as long as I can remember. Only just across the border from my home country of South Africa, it was in May of 2025 that I first visited the incredible deserts of Namibia. Having seen many photographs of the spectacular dunes and wildlife, I always wanted to visit a unique area of Namibia on my first trip.
The Kuiseb represented just that: a remote canyon that features unvisited and untouched wilderness within the Namib-Naukluft National Park. Access to the area is via very limited private concession. Upon completing the 93km trek, I was only the 47th person known to have hiked this route — a true privilege. I am pleased to share with you the below collection of images from my 6 days in the canyon.
Murray has secured exclusive access for a limited private group to hike and photograph the Kuiseb Canyon in 2027. Join Murray in the Kuiseb!
